I was initially hired at BPH Rail as a Compliance Administrator, and quickly progressed to Purchasing Assistant. This meant taking on more responsibility, a bigger workload and enabled me to gain a better understanding of BPH’s range of services and processes. My main duties include: • Liaising & negotiating with suppliers for materials, including face to face interaction • Generate Purchase Orders and submit to suppliers • Review and approve invoices received from suppliers • Co-ordinate with Finance to ensure timely payment • Oversee the supply chain to ensure materials arrive at the correct time / location • Ensuring all staff are compliant with site regulations and health & safety guidelines • General office duties Skills: • Stakeholder management – liaising with all internal & external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. • Influencing and negotiation – ensuring the best possible price of supplies for BPH • Problem Solving & Prioritisation – the ability to manage across multiple suppliers, timelines, and deliveries at any given time • Attention to detail – ensuring invoices/POs are appropriately reviewed before payment • Excellent verbal & written communication • Basic office admin; telephones, scanning, email mgmt.
