  The Center of Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness (CEEE) at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) is 1 of 10 other CSU's collaborating to find the best ways to support first-generation, low-income, and/or Hispanic-Serving Institutions. While taking part in a major role in shaping the educational system at CSULB, the CEEE lacked an overall branding identity that represents the school and its work. I developed templates for letterheads, briefs, research papers, infographics, and overall, rebranding of their visual identity.   This was my second summer at the Presidio YMCA, but my first summer as a Camp Coordinator for all of the specialty camps and sports camps. As the Camp Coordinator, I was the direct supervisor for all of my camp counselors and lead counselors, so I helped answer questions, resolve issues, and provide support in any way they needed. Some of my other job responsibilities were similar to my Lead Counselor position where I planned activities, games, crafts, field trips, and transportation needs for the campers. Furthermore, I managed the afternoon extended care when campers got picked up by their parents. I set up the gym each day, made sure camp counselors were in their assigned posts, and closed the sign out area after every camper got picked up. Show less

For the specialty camps, we bring in service providers for a portion of the day to lead their activities. After the service providers were done, I planned the games, activities, and crafts the campers would participate in for the rest of the day. This meant I had to order supplies and book any transportation that may be needed to carry out such activities.   As a Program Leader, I worked alongside youth from Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in San Francisco. In this camp, my campers had the ability to decide on their own field trips. However, they must plan and present it to my supervisor to get approval. There, I helped them plan their daily agenda, budget for the trip, and transportation to wherever they wanted to go. Additionally, I led my own enrichment classes in the afternoon where I taught an art class. I had the freedom to create my own curriculum, order supplies, and facilitate a class with fun and creative projects. Show less

  I assisted my supervisor in promoting their STEAM-based summer program called Project Summer. There, participants learned how to 3D print, build with wood, and screenprint clothing. I photographed and created a video about the participants' experiences with the program. I also helped my supervisor promote the program for their final event called the Makers Market in which all the youth-made creations were sold.
