As a PhD student at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) I am interested in protective factors contributing to the formation of a cognitive reserve in elderly people. I am involved in the design of an innovative telemedical clinical trial, developing research questions, and evaluating appropriate measurement tools based on the theoretical background and research questions. I also communicate interim results to collaborators and work with them on new ideas. Furthermore, I mentor colleagues and students and give advice on theoretical and statistical questions, as well as on analysis pipelines and data evaluation and visualization. As part of my master's degree, I completed a research internship at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (Dresden) in the research group 'Brain and Resilience' headed by Dr. Miranka Wirth. I was interested in researching protective factors in the context of dementia (type Alzheimer's) and the associated relationship with structural connectivity of the brain. I was active in the development, implementation, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of my master thesis based on an existing database. I developed an analysis pipeline in complex MRI imaging procedures, and evaluated data autonomously via multivariate analysis procedures (e.g., multiple regressions, mediation models). For this, I independently learned unix (bash) and R. The results were communicated at several conferences and seminars. I also supported another research project with analyses and interpretation in complex MRI imaging. Further, I supported colleagues with theoretical and statistical questions and analyses. For my honours bachelor thesis I was interested in the predictive validity of decision-making in the lab and various risky real-world behaviors, namely substance (ab)use, health-related behavior, financial decisions and behavior in social situations. I helped with collecting behavioral and MRI-data, along with analysing the behavioral data with regression models. Additionally, I wrote a narrative review article about the above mentioned topic.
