Bio
Tsz Hin Ryan Lam
I first started working with Alexis through the Daily Collegian as she was assigned as my candidate on the women's soccer beat. In the process of helping her to get acclimated to the Collegian and covering women's soccer, she has shown a lot of promise as a writer right away. She has an acumen with getting stories done the way that was recommended, but also to add her creativity and storytelling along the way. That, in tandem with her diligence, reliability and excellent communication skills, really assisted our coverage and made my beat partner and I felt like we had a third member of the group right away. Her passion toward the sport as a soccer player herself also shone through during our frequent conversation as we worked in together, and that passion really assisted her to excel at her job immediately, while also serving her well as she progressed up the ranks in the publication. We've only had limited time working together as it was a college publication and we weren't in the same class, but she has made a nice impression from the get-go and she is immensely deserving to get to where she is after women's soccer to cover women's basketball and Penn State football. Alexis is also very personable as a person, assisting her in having conversations with athletes and interviewees. That also was a part of her excelling within the publication and also in group and interpersonal settings. We still remained in contact after my departure as an alumnus and very much enjoyed having her as a friend on top of a former colleague. She has my most resounding recommendation for a valuable addition to any situation.

Alexis is the kind of woman anyone would want to work with. She reliable, intelligent, and hard working. She is also incredibly skilled. She is a very talented writer. She receives the opportunities and roles she has because she is so knowledgeable and willing to work to learn more at all times. She takes criticism well and is always working to improve her skills. She is a gifted sports writer and journalist and any publication would be lucky to have her. In addition to her talent, Alexis's best asset would have to be her personality. She is a joy to work alongside and she is kind to everyone and always has a positive attitude.

I tried out for and made the women's club soccer team during the first semester of my freshman year. As one of three freshmen who made the team, I was thrust into and excelled in the competitive environment fostered in practices and games. The team won the NIRSA 2021 Region 1 and National titles. I joined the team's THON committee during 2020. Throughout the last three seasons, I developed great relationships with my fellow THON chairs and our family, the Frys. During THON 2022, I served as the primary chair during THON weekend and took charge of scheduling shifts as well as making posters to support our dancers. Show less
