La roulotte polyglotte is a unique mobile classroom offering English and French language classes in the villages of the Uzège region as well as creative and fun workshops. As of September 2018, la roulotte polyglotte is collaborating with the Université Populaire de l’Uzège offering English classes for teens, an English initiation workshop for young children as well as a Learn English through Theatre workshop for adults. As a foreign language teacher my aim is to encourage imagination, nurture a desire to learn and empower student understanding. My teaching method is inspired by Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy as well as by my many years of professional experience. The method recognises the importance of oral communication and contextual learning mimicking as much as possible a child’s subconscious processes when learning their mother tongue. I use poems, songs and verses as a way to encourage the students to work on their oral comprehension. This allows them to naturally increase their vocabulary, and move on to reading then writing and grammar. In this way the learning process makes innate sense to the student and flows from their own desire to communicate and interact in the foreign language. During their time in class, the students create their own workbooks with my support, investing their imagination and creative spirit in the learning process. Show less

Active team member in editing the content for a three part series of French vocabulary textbooks (Levels A1, A2, B1 of the CEFR) to be used in EF Language schools in France. My experience as a French / English bilingual foreign language teacher was a great asset to this EF project as was my intimate knowledge of French culture. Working in collaboration with a writer our aim was to make the content of the books fun and engaging for future students. The feedback we got from the schools at the end of the project was very positive. Show less

Encuento is all about imaginative language tuition. The learning of a foreign language (such as English or French) can so easily become tiresome for children. Yet, through the art of storytelling a language can become enlivened and transformed. The richness of sounds apparent in the interaction of the story’s characters and in the vivid descriptions of the story’s setting. Through stories children learn the power of language, its ability to touch our emotions and to open up our imagination. • Sep 2010 - Aug 2013

As a key member of the English faculty at the Madrid Waldorf School my main responsibility was to provide engaging English lessons inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s precepts on language acquisition and the natural development of children. My classes also complied with the Waldorf curriculum for foreign languages although I was allowed much independence in my teaching methods. During my time at the school I had the opportunity to teach a variety of primary school age groups which gave me invaluable experience particularly with younger children. I was also involved in weekly faculty meetings and was part of the Events Planning Committee for the school. Show less

My role was to create a meaningful 30 hour language course divided into fifteen 2 hour lessons specifically tailored to each student’s language ability and professional need for French. The level of French ability ranged from complete beginner to upper intermediate. Most of the classes were individual although one was a group class which provided its own set of challenges. I learnt to use an online classroom (Adobe Connect Platform) and to find innovative ways to keep my student’s attention and motivation in learning despite not being physically present in the classroom with them.
