I always find working with Alex challenging - I mean this in a positive way as well! Alex has continually challenged us and our programmes to deliver the best solutions for patients. In working together, we have continually pushed each other to focus on healthcare technologies that people want to use, don't cause confusion but give clarity to the user when then need it, give the best user-experience and ultimately scale to help as many people as possible. The team that Alex built and led at The Earthworks were passionate and dedicated, often going beyond our expectations and that comes from his leadership. During meetings, the patient-focus was evident throughout, always looking at how patient outcomes could be improved and if he didn't feel it delivered this, the idea was stopped. The Earthworks under his leadership were separated our from run-of-the-mill healthcare digital agencies and this is why we chose them to develop some of our most challenging solutions. I cannot recommend Alex highly enough - we have collaborated over many years and I hope this will continue in the future.

Alex has been a delight to work with at Janssen-Cilag. He is a rare breed - innately creative all rounder (market access, product marketing to communications) with a can do attitude. He has been a key modernising force in the communications department leading the company's digital and social media strategies and innovations. He is resolutely passionate about making a difference and - he does with great effect. I would not hesitate to recommend Alex in any capacity - and hope that we work together again.

Alex is co-founder, host and contributor of healthcare digital marketing’s earliest and most popular podcast regularly rated in the global top 20 business podcasts (podomatic). Digitally Sick is a podcast-driven thought leadership blog originally co-founded by Faisal Ahmed, Alex Butler and Andrew Spong. The original pod ran from October 2011 to August 2015 and restarted in February 2017. The line up now consists of Alex Butler, Faisal Ahmed and Kai Gait, with regular and special guests. Collectively, the founders felt that the health conversation lacked a space within which an informal, incisive and occasionally irreverent commentary on the issues of the moment could take place. The podcast’s emphasis is primarily focused on the sharing of the opinions of the hosts and their guest speakers as to the Pharmaceutical industry’s digital activities – what the industry is doing, what it isn’t doing, and what it could or should be doing.
