I assess the functional limitations of clients resulting from injury, and provide therapy to enableclients to perform their daily activities and occupations with a focus on returning to work. My occupational tasks include assessing clients emotional, psychological and physical capabilities using clinical observations and standardised tests as well as assessing functional capacity within their home, leisure and work environments. I advise clients and employers on the necessary environmental adaptations and perform ergonomic setups. I also prescribe adaptive equipment if indicated after assessment to assist clients to overcome the functional limitations. I am required to maintain thorough clinical records and complete regular detailed reports to the referring party. Majority of my work is completed for ACC, with smaller components of the role being for private clients (employer referral or other insurer referrals e.g. income protection). I am required to independently manage a caseload of clients and maintain regular contact with all parties involved in the clients care including medical providers, other allied health professionals, employers, insurers and other relevant parties. I am also expected to be an active participant in the wider vocational rehabilitation teamassisting with leave coverage and participation in in-service trainings and meetings. In addition to providing Vocational Rehabilitation services, I also coordinate and provide Occupational Therapy input in Pain Management Programmes for clients who have or are at risk of developing Chronic Pain.
