Efforts include securing a $28.M competitive state grant for “Better Neighborhoods, Same Neighbors,” an initiative co-designed with East Oakland community leaders, City staff and other stakeholders to achieve major environmental, health, and economic benefits for six East Oakland neighborhoods, and leading the City’s Community Resilience Unit during the COVID-19 emergency, which built infrastructure for community food distribution, rapidly deployed $3 million in emergency cash grants to families and small businesses and conducted 20,000 COVID-19 testing sites targeting communities disproportionally harmed by the pandemic.
