Daniel Vollaro
Alex was a student in my internship class in Summer 2020 and because I was already familiar with and impressed with her work, I recommended her for two challenging manuscript editing projects, both with faculty members. In the first, she edited a book-length collection of essays on the HBO series Game of Thrones that was under contract at McFarland Books. She mainly focused regularizing citations and creating word counts of quotations for the publisher--tedious work which she nevertheless performed quickly and accurately. The second manuscript was a short textbook on writing outside that presents outdoor-oriented writing prompts for composition classes. In this project, she did both content and line editing. Both clients were extremely impressed with her work, and so was I. Alex has solid technical editing skills, but she is also an intellectually engaged and curious person. These qualities can be found in any great editor or writer. She is a pleasure to work with, and wish her luck in the future with her poetry and her professional pursuits.
