My role as sales assistant and brand ambassador was to be all and do all I could to exceed each guests expectation and create the ultimate customer experience. By being empowered to make decisions I was able to rectify issues on the spot and provide guests with a solution, ultimately creating a winning situation for both parties. My experience at Burnaby Hospital Foundation was extremely rewarding. Interning in the philanthropic arm of Burnaby Hospital, I assisted in two events that ran within 1.5 weeks of each other. The first event was a charity run/walk and the second was a golf tournament. Both events were on such a large scale and required a lot of planning, hours and manpower. The Run/Walk required that I execute as many advertisement pieces to as many Burnaby retail/recreational divisions as possible. I developed a database and mailing system to send out posters and leaflets/registration forms to past runners and corporate distributors. Registration was extremely comprehensive and of course, followed suit into the event making it the ultimate challenge of the day. Food prep, donations and prizes were needed for both events, requiring unlimited donation requests and follow up calls. Fortunately, many lower mainland providers came through and donated incredible items. All in all my experience included (but was not limited to): advertising assistance, warm calling, database development and upkeep, meeting minute taking, event decoration, order taking etc. Show less

Working in the building industry is fascinating and rewarding. Ledingham McAllister is a "Vancouver-based real estate developer building quality homes in superior locations, and providing customers with long-term investment value." My role was to support the sales team in preparing, finalizing and executing building developments around the lower mainland. My tasks varied between project organization, database development and upkeep and releasing keys to new homeowners. I learned a lot about the legal aspects of running a home building business and witnessed the cheer joy, worries and anticipation of many first-time homebuyers. Show less
