Core teaching team member for Dr. Karen Mapp's course, A122: The Why, What, and How of School, Family, and Community Partnerships. In this class, students examine the role of multi-player partnerships as a component of whole-school educational reform, investigate promising practice strategies being implemented by schools and districts around the country to build these relationships, and examine federal family engagement policy geared towards improving student outcomes. We come at this work from an equity-based lens, attempting to analyze and dismantle racial, socioeconomic, and other identity-based barriers to progress through building relational trust and sustainable partnerships. Mission Hill After School Program Director

Mission Hill After School Program (MHASP) is the oldest and largest student-run after school program in the Boston area. MHASP has collaborated with the Mission Hill Neighborhood for over three decades and continues to serve nearly 60 students and their families. As Program Director in Family and Community Involvement I was tasked with acting as the liaison between our students and their families, our staff and program, and leaders in the community, among other players. My responsibilities (on average 30 hrs/week) included managing student enrollment and family interview processes, serving as the family and community point person, supervising staff and volunteer recruitment, overseeing a staff of 21 classroom coordinators and over 150 college volunteers from universities across the Greater Boston area, planning weekly staff meetings, educational and socio-emotional enrichment activities, and professional development events, organizing student and staff outings, supervising the daily running of program, behavior management, training staff and volunteers, team management, and assisting in budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, and organizing transportation logistics.
