I am currently a Research Assistant in the University of Tampa Memory Lab under the direction of Dr. Sara Festini, Assistant Professor of Psychology at UT. The Memory Lab primarily conducts research based in cognitive psychology, with a focus on memory and executive functioning. Research projects that I have assisted with have assessed cognitive processes such as working memory, prioritizing information in memory, the effect of context on memory, memory interference, and the effects of busyness and mental engagement on cognitive function. Projects I have assisted with include: (1) Examining the encoding specificity effect in working memory (2) Investigating the effects of directed-forgetting on memory when value is added (value-directed memory) (3) Predicting Academic Success in Students with ADHD (Dr. Sara Festini & Dr. Sarah Orban) As a Research Assistant, daily laboratory tasks include synthesizing literature relevant to ongoing research, running research participants through experimental protocols, collecting and documenting data for further evaluation utilizing Excel, and contributing to manuscript writing.
