I strongly recommend Alexandra Penn of Champions Against Bullying. She is highly knowledgeable and understanding of children in a bullying situation. I contacted Alexandra when my daughter was being bullied by a classmate in her fourth grade class. My daughter was put at ease after speaking with Alexandra on the phone. I was given the proper knowledge on how to handle the situation at school(speaking to the teacher and child's parents). I'm so relieved to know that I have Champions Against Bullying on my side.

"Learning is Impaired when Children are Scared"When someone asks what Champions Against Bullying does, my response is: "We save children's lives." We continue to provide solutions through consultations, workshops, programs and resources for kids, from pre-school to high school, parents and educators, loaded with prevention, intervention and solution tips and strategies. Our newest program, Social Starts, begins in pre-school. A book for the pre school and early childhood audiences is in the works. Studies indicate when early social and emotional programs are implemented, aggression is reduced, resulting in improved learning. “Learning is Impaired when Children are Scared." Frightened children, always looking behind them, cannot learn to their fullest potential. One in four kids is bullied daily. "Because children’s mental health is directly linked to their academic success, that means one in four kids is underperforming. Removing the obstacles that impede learning is essential to a child’s future. It’s up to all of us.” Show less

Champions Against Bullying has changed lives and saved lives. When a bullying incident occurs or a child takes his life and the ink dries, lessons learned often take a back seat. We can no longer pretend that doesn't happen and ignore the societal dysfunction smacking us in the face. How do we heighten this menacing apathy and destroy the paralysis?Confronting the consequences of doing nothing has lead to fatal consequences. Parents: You are your child’s first teacher. Our workshops and consultations equip you with the tools to recognize the signs of bullying and listen between the lines. Bullying’s weighty baggage is on overload and includes silence, denial, shame and blame. Learn how to help your child lighten the load. When schools and parents unite, a greater chance for prevention, safe intervention and solutions occur and emerge. We know the fallout of turning a blind and a deaf ear. Champions Against Bullying’s interactive workshops for kids, parents and educators are solution-based and get results. For example: If someone tells you that he is thirsty and you say, “You need a drink of water,” you haven’t really solved that problem. But, if someone tells you he is thirsty and you give him that drink, you have provided the solution.Isolated and victimized, bullying is a very real problem for kids with learning disabilities and behavior problems. We help overloaded teachers manage the mean stuff and create a respectful, caring, classroom atmosphere. Workshops, assemblies, published articles, radio interviews, speaking engagements as well as invitations from Dr. Phil and Judge Alex further attest to the organization's unique value and solid contributions we bring to the table.Parent workshops, group meetings and private consultations are available. As a counselor in Special Education, I worked with special needs students in elementary, middle and high school. Timely consulting and collaboration with teachers, other school staff and with parents were in effect to ensure that each child received the most appropriate and beneficial services available. As part of a group selected to train teachers and implement a Behavior Modification program for students with behavior and attention difficulties, I learned that if a child cannot sit quietly in a circle and pay attention, that child cannot learn effectively. My work and breakthrough with a child on the autistic spectrum inspired a training video used as a teaching tool, at the world-renowned Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. Show less
