Housing Coordinator

Jan 2023 - Present
I am part of a small team that thinks and plans urban regeneration projects in an inclusive and interdisciplinary manner. While my focus is on the right to housing, I am also contributing to projects looking at the communities left behind in the green transition. My main responsibilities include field research, data analysis and strategic thinking while working directly with grassroots communities and local public authorities. F-SIDES is a feminist film project aimed at using culture as a medium to advance awareness about gender equality. We set up an educational feminist film curricula for teenagers in small cities with reduced access to cultural infrastructure, and in parallel we run a monthly female gaze film club in 3 Romanian cities. We have also released a research report on cultural consumption and gender awareness for youth in small towns. In my role as Co-founder I am involved in fundraising, strategic planning, project management, and developing the educational curricula. Show less

My role within the Urban team was in research and analysis on fostering urban inclusion for marginalised communities. I was part of several assignments looking at spatial exclusion and housing vulnerability in the case of Roma communities. Most recently we delivered guidelines to line ministries and disseminated findings to local public authorities on the regularisation and upgrading of informal settlements and segregation prevention. Previously I was part of the team that developed Romania's first National Urban Policy. Show less

I was part of a research team that looked at food inequality and sought to identify better policy pathways. One project looked at local policies and actions to prevent malnutrition in Brighton and Hove, while the other looked at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. My responsibilities included interviews, literature reviews, data analysis and writing, resulting in 2 published academic papers. The project mapped out elderly people's relationship to resources, their practices and behaviours that contribute to the sustainability agenda (even if the elderly in Romania are not included in environmentalist movements or discussions). Using qualitative research methods, we looked beyond material culture and understood the limits and opportunities of active ageing in Romania today, considering that one's relationship to resources and the environment is very much influenced by lifestyle, which in turn is constructed by the process of ageing and the institutions and policies that shape this stage in life. I initiated this project and was responsible for its every stage, from raising funds, managing a team of 20 people, co-designing the methodology, researching, analysing and publishing findings.
