Working as a waitress is a fast paced job and I often have to work efficiently and calmly whilst in stressful and high-energy situations. I endeavor to turn up to work on time and have been commended as a reliable and trustworthy member of the café team. I have come to forge many strong relationships with the regulars as well as striving to make the new customers feel welcome and go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction wherever possible. In this job, I was a personal mentor to fourty 14-18 year olds, many of whom it was their first time living away from home. In turn, as I had travelled all the way from the UK to work there myself, and having never lived away from home beforehand, I used my own experiences to relate to the children. Working in Australia has increased my confidence to adapt to foreign environments. As a compassionate person, my role as a confidant to the children had to be balanced with maintaining my role as a leader. I had to remain approachable and understanding at all times to ensure a stable and positive relationship with the children I was responsible for. Show less
