Research Assistant

In this lab, I trained rats on a number of different tasks that looked at their behavior in times of uncertainty. In addition to training I also fed, changed cages, gave injections, preformed drug infusions, took care of post operation rats, and when it was time, I sacrificed and prepared the brains for histology. I collaborated with other lab members on projects and was able to come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. Lead Associare Counselor

As an associate counselor, I worked with patients during every stage of the inpatient program. I used programs such as Sigmund to complete the patients’ intake documents at the beginning of their stay. Once the patient is admitted, I administered daily medications, collected urinalysis samples, searched luggage and rooms, as well as answered questions about the recovery process and different recovery services to both patients, and their loved ones. During my time at the rehabilitation center, I was able to use crisis de-escalation methods to try to keep the patients in the program and motivated. During my year at the Centre for Gambling Research I wrote a Behavioral Research Ethics Board protocol proposal and carried out the experiment. I helped create and administer a pilot behavioral task for undergraduate students that looked at their cheating behavior and level of narcissism as it related to their social rank. This project was in collaboration with a lab at the University of Pittsburg Medical Centre and I successfully communicated with them at every step of the project.
