This position includes all of the Readers’ Advisor responsibilities, and more. Extensive analysis of community needs and use of materials led me to propose and implement a strategic re-organization of the adult fiction and large print collections. This re-organization involved a massive weeding project based on statistics pulled from Millennium reports, and re-classification of materials into more browsable genre-based sections, re-arranging the collection to allow easier access to the Large Print collection for seniors, to allow for more shelf-space for the popular Mystery and Thriller section, and to make the Science Fiction/Fantasy section and the Romance section more visible and prominent. Began collecting Adult Graphic Novels, in response to national studies and Rhode Island graphic novel circulation statistics. Worked with Friends of the Library and volunteers to streamline gift-sorting to more effectively see how patron gifts could enhance NKFL’s fiction collections, especially focusing on the patron-popular mass-market paperback format. Supervised pages, volunteers, and URI GSLIS Student Interns.
