I worked in real estate law for a busy sole practitioner in order to have a steady paycheck during COVID and gain a mentor. I carried the files from begging to end, inclusive of purchases, sales, refinances/mortgages, survivorship transfers, and private mortgage transactions. I completed the daily real estate banking, office administration, and real estate registrations. I corresponded with city hall, clients, mortgage companies, title insurance companies, financial institutions, lawyers and firms, and other support staff.

During the beginning of COVID I was looking for steady pay as my business was no longer thriving in a pandemic. I had also left family law as was focusing solely on Real Estate and Wills and Estates work. I thought I would also like to do something that would utilize my empathetic and maternal side. I was looking to get back to support working as I enjoyed working in that field in the past.At March of Dimes I was able to succeed in my endeavor and provide care to people in need. I was trained on Hoyer lifts, catheter flushes, and individualized treatments such as leg brace routine, physiotherapy, peri care and bathing, and medical treatments. I prided myself on learning each client's specific wants and needs quickly. During a typical shift I would read any updates on the client's from other staff, notes from head office, document my day on paper and online, prepare meals, assist with per care, showers, hygiene, and dressing. I assisted the clients with their medication, cleaning their homes, cleaning and folding their laundry, and washing dishes. Other duties included changing briefs, applying topical medications, changing wound dressings, and repositioning. My clients and shifts would change daily. I would also complete paperwork for COVID screening of myself and the clients, report any medication issues, or general information other staff and management should know regarding the clients. While providing the services, I was professional while being personable, and always respectful of the client's dignity and autonomy. I left MODC as I received an offer within the field of law that had potential for me to be mentored, grow, and move up in the business.
