Working with Alex was a great experience. We learnt a lot each other in how create vertical comunities into the desity cities. He is very talent Architect Designer. We look into vertical cities in the urban fabric, transportation and energy for 2 months hosted in Henn Architects, Berlin. Great research with talent people as Alex on the team.

Alex is an extremely well organised and self motivated person. He sets himself high goals and then plans a way to achieve those goals and then methodically goes about tackling that plan. The results of his work is consistently of the highest order due to his work mentality but also due to him listening and taken on board advice. Alex is a very well presented and sociable character who would fit in with any environment socially. He has a great sense of humour and a keen eye so it is without hesitation that I recommend him for whatever job or study path he chooses.

I participated in the design team of the 2015 DRX in Berlin. The focus was to invent coherent vertical urbanism, including creating appropriate infra-structural systems, liveable density and sustainable building arrangements. My role was primarily architectural, planning new systems of building access based on three dimensional urban design. I participated in the design team of the 2015 DRX in Berlin. Extrapolating methodologies for above ground circulation found in Hong Kong, my dissertation project, Communities In The Sky, provided a solution to the over-burdened groundscape of the world's densest and tallest cities. Creating public vertical transportation towers allows for superimposed connections between building clusters to subdivide the vertical dimension of a city, much like a city block. Connections between clusters create a comprehensive network of public walkways in the sky, programmed with ground level public amenities and services, that connect to street level thanks to Hong Kong's steep terrain. At JAE I worked as a designer, my team worked on winning competition entries and commissioned work. My position at JAE allowed me to develop not only my design skills but the ability to coordinate teams of engineers, designers and clients to ensure the project moved swiftly in order to submit our winning design entrys. Key Projects: YKPAO School Treehouse Pavillion, Shanghai, China. -GFA 25m2 -Stages D-J Tai Hu Lake Research and Testing Facility, WuXi, China. -GFA 74'000m2 -Stages C-F The competition brief called for a research centre that required a 150m x 150m indoor space with no supporting columns. The double-curved tension cable structure acting as a bridge over the building supports the roof and is the first of its kind. At the beginning of this project I was the sole designer, working closely with JAE's head engineer to develop the beautiful structure. This entry won the design competition and is in the late stages of development Show less

Working on this competition entry lead to my return to JAE as a full-time designer in May. Show less

I worked as an Intern for this small, China-based Architecture and Design practice. My work largely involved conceptual design and 3D computer modelling of Skyscrapers. This includes commissioned design work and work for competitions. Key Projects: Vanke Cultural Learning Centre, Hang Zhou, China. -GFA 100m2 -Stages A-E COMAC Headquarters competition entry, Shanghai, China. -GFA 130'000m2 -Stage C The key to this project was its parametric facade. Taking input from function, solar gain and floor-specific lighting the facade had a changing density of ceramic dots that reduce solar gains where appropriate. This pattern creates the effect of jet streams coursing over the tower, a beautiful and sustainable strategy. Working on this project and at this practice provided me with links to work on another entry for the competition at JAE. The two proposals were submitted together. Show less

During my winter break from university I was offered a temporary place at Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects (PTEA) in London. I worked with two teams and learnt important differences in designing work for clients and for councils. Mainly I provided 3D CAD models which I then used to render and produce images for a competition entry in the late stages of design, while also working up AutoCAD files for a submission to the council. Working at PTEA was a fantastic experience and I unfortunately had to turn down the opportunity to return after the New Year due to university work commitments. Show less

Personally, I managed all the 3D CAD work which provided proposed program illustrations for the project.
