Alex is a significant asset to my department. He exudes energy. He is dedicated to his client group and his own career. Over the time he has been with me he has developed innovative ideas and always been willing to take a risk and pilot something new. I will miss him and am delighted to have been part of his journey as his career progresses. And he has superb taste in whisky.

Alex has been a great addition to the Careers and Employability department here at GSM London. With innovative and well structured ideas he has added another dimension to the team. With is positive and passionate attitude, he has connected well with our students, particularly the business management students. Alex has some great ideas he wants to become a reality to benefit the students and with a drive like his he will succeed in this job and any other in his future. He is a pleasure to work with.

I do a lot of work around making students work ready this can include developing their soft skills by a series of interactive in class session that sets practical challenges to complete using construction kits. I also develop links with employers to arrange off visit for our students as well as getting speakers in to talk about careers in their sector.

A4e was bought out in April 2015 and merged with Avanta to form people plus I work with a specific caseload of around seventy people and specialise in working with the 18-24 year olds (NEETs) as well as the customers from an executive, professional and graduate background. I adopt a consultative approach tailored to the individual’s situations and needs. This might range from developing their CV to offering in-depth careers advice based on their education and personal ambitions.I am based over two office Guildford and Epsom I am also the sales champion for Surrey this mean I drive employer engagement though the region encourage participation and weekly conference calls to share best practice. This job challenges me as I get the opportunity to work with a variety of people that I hadn’t had to work with professionally before such as ex-offenders, prison leavers, MAPPAs and ESOL customers.I enjoy the sense of achievement from working with the individuals; helping them overcome the barriers to employment and then finally helping to place them into work.

The Guildford job club is funded in part by the European skills agency and is attracting international attention for the good work it has been doing. I help run the job pub which is a drop-in centre held in the Stoke pub in Guildford. I focus mainly on CVs and offer advice on how to proceed with applications.
