Fallen trees were limbed, bucked, and gathered together into burn piles on difficult and varying terrain in sometimes extreme weather conditions. * As part of an eight person squad, completed over 150 acres of burn unit… * Individually and as part of a team, responsible for the safe and efficient completion of an 88 square acre fuels break on National Forest land. Completion of safe and successful tree felling using chain saws, felling ax, and various wedges and felling techniques. Fallen trees were limbed, bucked, and gathered together into burn piles on difficult and varying terrain in sometimes extreme weather conditions. * As part of an eight person squad, completed over 150 acres of burn unit preparation for over 400 acres of prescribed burn area, including cutting saw line, digging hand line, placing unit flagging, holding during firing operations, use of drip-torches to ignite unburned fuels, as well as monitoring and mop-up after firing.* Utilized and maintained Husqavarna and Stihl chainsaws for over a combined 200 hours, troubleshooting basic problems with saws, as well as completion of daily and field maintenance of saws.* As part of an eight person squad, lived in a wilderness camp in sometimes harsh conditions, completing assigned tasks around camp before and after regular work days, sometimes working up to 12 hour days in conjunction with US Forest Service assets on project work and prescribed burns; Equivalent to GS-03.
