The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations (UN) that leads international efforts to secure sustainable food systems. The FAO's goal is to achieve global food security and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 194 member states, FAO works in approximately 130 countries worldwide. My role at FAO focuses on the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication (SSF Guidelines), a UN endorsed policy instrument that goes beyond fisheries, highlighting the rights of fishers and fish workers, and the socio-economic dimension of small-scale fisheries. Specifically, my responsibilities include the: - co-coordination of the FAO Technical Paper, 'Securing Small-Scale Fisheries: Showcasing applied practices in value chains, post-harvest operations and trade' - co-coordination of the International Year for Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA), due in 2022 - co-coordination and representation in workshops relating primarily to fishery value chains, post-harvest and trade - monitoring and tracking of two projects relating to the implementation of the SSF Guidelines, with a combined total value of €13 million - coordination of the SSF Guidelines monthly newsletter - co-coordination of weekly seminars focusing on different areas of fisheries, aquaculture and international development Show less

Hume Brophy is an international communications consultancy specialising in public relations, public affairs, investor relations and corporate and financial communications, with offices in Brussels, Dublin, London, Paris, Frankfurt, New York and Singapore. Part of the London Public Affairs Team, it was my responsibility to source information, however obscure, to provide to my team in order to make accurate decisions. My role gave me an overarching insight into numerous factions of European and British politics. All our clients had acute interests in sectors ranging from healthcare, energy, education, infrastructure, finance, law and technology. As a researcher, my responsibility was to obtain a comprehensive overview of the client and their industry and then concisely summarise the factors influencing their objectives. Show less
