My main objectives within my position were to inspire, engage and sustain children's interest in Shakespeare's works, his life and times by delivering high quality, participatory learning experiences. I led formal and informal workshops with information tailored to helping key stages 1-3 understand the nature of Shakespeare's work for performance and also how theatre was perceived in the Elizabethan period. I worked as part of ensemble of education actors who performed various scenes from the plays of Shakespeare to better inform the children of the content and language of his plays. We were also given added responsibilities of preparing lectures and seminars about the conditions of the Elizabethan stage and used Birthplace resources to further the students knowledge of that particular period of history.
