HELA project: Development of an Ytterbium-fiber-based high-efficiency laser system for inter-satellite WDM optical communication. Amplification of ten separate wavelength channels up to 10W of output power each, i.e. 100W power in total. Our work also comprises the development of a corresponding multi-channel seed source with up to 10mW per channel and wavelengths between 1060nm and 1069nm, i.e. approx. 1nm channel spacing.[HELA is a part of ESA's HydRON project (High throughput Optical Network) in the framework of the SkyLight programme.]Laser Development Department - Solid-State Lasers Group Show less

MOMA project/ExoMars 2022 mission: Development of compact diode-pumped, passively Q-switched, frequency-converted solid state UV lasers with 266 nm wavelength and nanosecond pulse duration for laser desorption mass spectrometry on Mars.My tasks included the optical development, improvements on the mechanical side, the assembly, testing, space qualification, delivery and integration of several prototype models as well as finally the flight model and flight spare lasers in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Testing and integration activities included various visits to several of our project partners: Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS), Göttingen and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, USA as well as Thales Alenia Space Itlay (TAS-I), Turin and Airbus Defence and Space, Toulouse. I will continue to support ExoMars and MOMA throughout the mission and participate in the Rover Operations Control Centre (ROCC) at ALTEC, Turin.[MOMA project in the framework of ESA's ExoMars 2022 mission. Cooperation with various national and international partners.]Laser Development Department - Space Technologies Group/Solid-State Lasers Group Show less
