Alex is a great communicator and he delivered a terrific guest lecture for our MSc and PhD students. He can speak out about issues that are on the minds’ of the audience - for example, around failure and success in the entrepreneurial journey - and he does so with great authenticity. In the words of one of our students: "[Alex’s talk] provided a different and valuable perspective which I don’t think it widely shared."

I joined Metis Labs as a strategist during my 3 week COVID-19 furlough, and I cannot speak highly enough of Alex and the rest of the team at Metis Labs. From day one, Alex was not only extremely invested in providing me with interesting, unique, and relevant projects but also trusted me to own my work. He was always engaged during our conversations and would provide thoughtful questions, constructive criticism, and clear next steps that enabled me to do the best I could do. The rest of the team also welcomed me with open arms and were extremely helpful in getting me ramped up; I always looked forward to our daily stand-ups and biweekly coffee chats. Though my experience was brief, I truly felt appreciated and included as a member of the Metis Labs team. Thank you again to Alex, Bash, Mikhail, and Mike for an incredible experience!

Metis Labs builds intelligent software tools to improve the efficiency of industrial processes. The industrial sector uses 1/3 of the world’s natural resources and yet most facilities still rely upon human experience and intuition to optimise the control of production processes. Our software product, Kelvin, is easy to implement and designed for daily use by operations team and engineers, bringing advanced machine learning capabilities to non-programmers.
