Digital Masterplanning provides software that is designed to help real estate companies easily unify, analyze, and present their spatial and nonspatial data. I was initially contracted to build economic impact models for real estate development spending and create documentation to help users contextualize the results. But, after seeing my aptitude, I was brought on full time to generally help advance the product from proof of concept into a functional MVP. Much of my early work centered around gathering requirements from stakeholders, documenting product workflows and infrastructure, and creating functional and technical user stories for new functionality. I become a subject matter expert on the real estate lifecycle which I used to make recommendations around prioritization when documenting the product roadmap. Heavily contributing at every stage in the product development life cycle also rounded out my abilities as an analyst. I learned how to create effective UX architecture and utilize best UX principles while helping the Design team specify and wireframe necessary components. And I learned how to work with various agile methodologies while collaborating with the Development team to write technical user stories and leading our user acceptance testing. I also developed a foundation in data strategy and database modeling while helping create a new schema to deal with unstructured client data. Ultimately, beyond the valuable hard skills I picked up, this experience cemented my ability to lead, adapt, and own the work that I do. Show less

Bluewolf rapidly grew as a successful startup by helping to pioneer the use of cloud technology for business solutions as well as adding staff from a wide-variety of professional backgrounds to promote innovation and diversity of thought. However, they ran into issues that many quickly-growing companies do: a lack of standardization and a reliance on word of mouth for knowledge transfer. This problem was only compounded when IBM acquired Bluewolf and started integrating their own staff and processes. My work revolved around helping the Operations team implement a standardized approach to Bluewolf’s workflows and project reporting. I collaborated with project teams to determine how to best incorporate these new processes while minimizing disruption to their ongoing work. I created workflow documentation and user guidance tailored to different professional backgrounds. And I helped build dashboards in Salesforce for standardized reporting on all project types. Wayfair works extensively with the H-1B visa process - a process requiring copious amounts of documentation and steep penalties for infractions. I became a subject matter expert on the application process, helped guide employees through the process, and reviewed documentation to ensure compliance. I joined Liberty Mutual as they were beginning to use aerial imagery to improve operational efficiency. My team was focused on assessing the viability of training adjusters to use camera-equipped drones for roof inspections to increase safety and reduce time spent on site. My work centered around collecting drone usage data from adjusters, reporting on program viability to leadership, and identifying potential areas of improvement through quantitative and qualitative analysis. Two major impacts I had were: - Noticing inefficiencies in the data collection process and recommending changes that resulted in more-frequent and more-complete responses from adjusters. - Helping to identify and prioritize a particular use case for drone deployment that had greater cost savings compared to the standard use case, resulting in an additional $50,000 saved over the course of my internship. Seamcraft relied on a paper-based payroll process that was cumbersome and susceptible to errors. I worked with HR to understand their workflow and considerations and recreated their process in Excel, automating it where possible. My work helped Seamcraft stay on top of changing regulations, prevented calculation errors, and reduced the weekly manhours required for payroll from 12 to <1.
