Alex and I were on the same team at Uptake and since my first day he has been a coworker that I've looked up to. I was a very junior developer when we first started working together but Alex never hesitated to answer questions or explain concepts no matter how simple they were to him. He pair programmed with me often and was still able to get his work done on time. Beyond being a great mentor he was also a a highly sought after teammate. Alex never hesitated to grab a difficult task and would be able to produce beautifully written, tested and documented code. He takes pride and ownership in his work and will always leave the code in a better state than he found it. If anything broke you could be sure the buck would stop at Alex, and he would get it fixed extremely quickly. Overall, any team would be lucky to have Alex, I would not be the developer I am today if it wasn't for him. He makes everyone around him a better programmer and I am very appreciative that our paths were able to cross.

Alex is one of the brightest developers I had the pleasure to work with at Uptake. In our initial interview, I quickly found out that Alex was highly qualified and easy to communicate with. By the end of the interview I was asking him his opinions on up-and-coming technologies and learning from his experiences. Alex was crucial to the creation of the front-end framework. He is highly capable of seeing the bigger picture and prioritizing feature development. I regularly sought his opinion on architectural discussions. He is highly regarded by management and his peers and a leads effortlessly by example.

I build and maintain features for our server-rendered single page application. I monitor daily site performance and triage issues. I built out the unit test suite for the client application. I transitioned the site from a custom Django CMS to Condé Nast's internal CMS platform. I helped transition the site to HTTPS. I build and test reusable UI components and services using Angular that form the core of a large web application. I engineer the build, testing, and linting processes that all other teams use. As a member of the Research and Design team, I build proof of concept components that explore potential new leads into business areas. I review and critique the code produced by my peers on a daily basis. I build and test reusable UI components and services using Angular that form the core of a large web application. I developed intuitive, responsive websites for clients based on careful design and information architecture. As the lead engineer, I made choices about which frameworks and technologies to use. I shaped and grew our stack using: * Stylus * Angular * Gulp * Browserify * Interfaced with clients to discover and plan for requirements and devise solutions * Managed development team workflow and codebase * Developed full stack web applications for wide variety of clients * Explored and implemented new technologies * Utilized automated testing and continuous integration to monitor health of numerous simultaneous projects * Reviewed other developers code and provided constructive criticism on best practices and refactoring Show less
