I had the pleasure of "managing" Alex over the course of 2+ years and I use the word "manage" loosely. I got thrust into the very challenging role of the Dallas Market Manager and I inherited Alex from the previous manager's team. Alex is the only reason we were as successful as we were in my time at Redfin. The Dallas market was the most profitable market over the course of my time there as well as the most efficient and we ALWAYS had the best metrics. All of this is directly correlated to Alex being the foundation and linch pin around everything that operated in the Dallas market. I was fortunate enough to be the "face" of the Dallas market but Alex was the one that kept the train on the tracks and made sure start and finish dates were hit. He would suggest changes to scopes to save money or point out obvious misses and make sure the product we put out was the best of the best. Alex managed all the jobs(even the ones that weren't necessarily assigned to him) to make sure we were always on track. Alex was also my go to if I needed a thought partner for anything. I would often go to Alex with questions on metrics, on presentations that we were about to have to give, and on anything construction related. Alex is one of the most knowledgeable and hard working people I know in the area of construction. He took that knowledge and he used it to train most of the Home Services division at Redfin. He trained at least half of the 80+ superintendents across the country and every Market Manager that came into DFW to train Alex would spend a day or two with them to show them how the Superintendent role was supposed to operate. He also regularly paired up with our internal teams(estimations, purchasing, IT, engineering, etc) to pilot new programs or software or beta test a new roll out because of his expertise with all the things related to his job.
