  I worked in the day service that provided a service mainly for those living with dementia and started there when it first opened in 2013 but the service was sadly closed for good in 2020 after covid 19 hit. My role was to give each person the best day with us starting from when they arrived to when they went home, We would either collect our members or they would come straight to the service, We would plan the activities each day depending on who was coming, always making sure each person did something they would enjoy while with us that day.   My role was to support patients and their families at home with people who were in there last days or weeks of life or to support families who needed respite for a few hours. I would support the patient by making sure they were comfortable and not in pain by assisting with p/c and regular turning if bed bound, To be support for the family and answer any questions I could and support them right through to the very end, I would be in contact and working alongside GP's, District nurses and outside agencies as well as the team at the hospice.
