Few faculty get the opportunity to work on large projects with students that grow their problem-solving skills and confidence, but I did when Alex took my Marketing Research and Analytics course in the Spring of 2022. This course included a team project for the Dean and Associate Dean of Student Success at the College of Business. Each team examined one of seven research questions surrounding Student Success at the TAMUCC College of Business. The teams met with the client, designed a survey that would answer the client’s research question, created an online survey, collected data, analyzed the data, and reported their findings and recommendations in an oral presentation and written report. They learned how to use Qualtrics for online survey design and data collection, SPSS for data analysis, and Excel for presenting the data. They also learned how to take constructive feedback and use it to improve their skill set. The client was impressed with the quality of their work and the presentation of their finding and recommendations. Alex was a joy to work with, and any organization would be lucky to have him. I can’t wait to see where the future takes him.
