  • Participated in a scheme during my final year of school which involved creating and implementing an idea for a small business over a one year period. o Worked alongside a team of 15 people in devising a business based clothing, specifically around underwear and socks. o My area of focus utilised my ICT experience to create and manage a financial system through Microsoft Excel set with calculations to easily track the financial figures of the start-up, which showed me how essential it is for businesses to have sound financial management processes in place. o Our business ended the year with a modest £100 profit. This experience gave me a first-hand understanding of setting up a small business and the numerous challenges that start-ups and business owners face, particularly in light of the challenging trading conditions at present.
