I was responsible for 4-6 catering assistants, leading them throughout the shift to ensure smooth-running of service and high-quality food standard. I organised work throughout the shift, instructing the team to complete tasks, whilst undertaking more complex tasks, such as opening and closing the kitchen, myself. I liaised with Bar staff and higher team members creating open and comfortable communication between the team. I was the first point-of-call for any issues that arose, using team-working, communicating and problem-solving skills to ensure speedy and appropriate resolution. I interned as the PR and Communications at The Washing Machine Project over summer 2022 - a social enterprise created to alleviate the burden on women of domestic labour by creating and sourcing off-grid washing machines for women in low-income and developing countries. As the PR and Communications Intern, I worked alongside the Social Media Manager to create content, media market and promote TWMP's campaign across social media. I also saw through the beginning of creation of merchandise. I was a blogger for the University of Leeds Study Abroad team, writing blogs of a high-standard that were accessible to all students. I wrote about my experience about doing a year abroad under Brexit, life as a student at the University of Malaga, and the cultural activities I participated in whilst abroad. I gained key communicative and writing skills, learning and improving from feedback given by other team members. I thoroughly enjoyed this role as I loved helping, and hopefully inspiring, the next generation of students to undertake a year abroad through my writing. Show less

As Catering Assistant, I thoroughly enjoyed working in a team and interacting with customers, creating a positive atmosphere for a successful work environment. I followed instructions, working to a high ability to ensure smooth food service and providing food of a high quality, whilst using initiative to keep myself busy during quiet times by completing independent cleaning tasks, for example. I worked in a team, whilst experiencing the fast-paced environment of the catering industry requiring me to utilise key skills, whilst gaining new ones to ensure smooth and effortless service throughout any shift. I really enjoyed my job as I love the opportunity of working in a team whilst interacting with customers and creating a positive atmosphere for a successful work environment. Due to lack of staff on shifts due to Covid, I often undertook the role of Supervisor leading my team throughout shifts, and my work was recognised in May 2021 when I was awarded Catering Assistant of the Month. Joint Honours Course Rep - Politics and Spanish

As Politics and Spanish Course Rep I was responsible for the academic wellbeing of all Spanish and Politics students of all years. I was a point of contact for students to express their views of both courses and then in due course feed that back to appropriate staff members. I took part in semesterly meetings with all staff and other course reps, where I fedback information gathered from my students from an array of questionnaires and documents I would send out a few weeks prior to these meetings. I worked in a team with other course reps to ensure all students' needs were met appropriately and swiftly, as well as gaining invaluable communication and leadership skills. Show less

During lockdown, I started volunteering with the local Foodbank, which meant that every week, I picked up my neighbours’ food and contributions, and took them to a warehouse, where I and other volunteers ordered everything and put it in packages to give homeless people, or families with very low incomes. As a waitress at Splendid Catering Company, I got to explore London and work at unique events, ranging from big Christmas parties at the Natural History Museum and the Camden Roundhouse, and more intimate events like family birthday parties and art openings at the Royal Academy of Arts. I really enjoyed this job as I love interacting with new people and creating a positive atmosphere for guests through being smiley and welcoming at all times. I was consistently on time and productive to ensure smooth and effortless service throughout any event, and if any issues arose, I was on top it and made sure that the issue is resolved as soon as possible to ensure customer satisfaction. As a volunteer at this after school club, I had several responsibilities: – look closely after the wellbeing and safety of a large number of children from ages 5-11. – preparing meals for the children – organising activities, art and crafts for the children – working with a team of staff to ensure the smooth running of the club – tidying and cleaning at the end of every session I attend – work on children’s learning with helping with homework, or practising reading/maths/etc – deal with incidents that may occur and use my knowledge to sort out problems in the quickest, most effective way possible From this role, I have learnt how to work with a team of adults to ensure the smooth running of a club with many young children, and the importance of teamwork. I have developed key skills such as communication and confidence as I have needed to be able to work with my colleagues but also communicate with a younger age group requiring me to be able to adapt to situations and be quick thinking in the way I present myself with different people. It was a fast-paced environment, so I had to always be on my feet, responding to a rising issues quickly and calmly. During this week I experienced all corners of working in the world of TV, media and production as every day I was assigned to a different task. This certainly tested yet built my ability to adapt to different situations as I had to learn quickly the demands and needs for each task I was doing. I feel that my confidence, collaborative and adaptive skills really flourished during the week as I had to be constantly on the ball and prepared for each day.
