Resilient Communities Program Manager
-
Jun 2022 - Present
Creation, management, and facilitation of programs focusing on community response to environmental hazards through an environmental justice lens. Some of the day-to-day responsibilities include budget management and planning, high school internship management and curriculum development, event planning and facilitation, media creation, community outreach (tabling, door knocking, social media, etc.), short- and long-term strategic planning, and community and governmental networking. Additional responsibilities include grant writing and the facilitation of green infrastructure projects. Current work revolves around addressing Fairfield's poor air quality while, previously, I ran a program based on flood/climate resilience in Suisun. Culmination of each program is the creation of an environmental community action plan with residents and local officials. Show less

I helped conduct research for a market analysis regarding the reserve's educational materials. The research included climate change related polling data from communities on Maryland's coastline, interpolating the impact that climate change would have on counties' economies from their reliance on coastal resources and markets, and evaluating the resiliency of each of Maryland's coastal counties regarding climate change based on climate-forward policies (or the lack thereof) that they have passed. Assisted Dr. Stephen MacAvoy in his work on urban stream syndrome within the Anacostia River. The primary research attempted to source inorganic contaminants within the watershed. Using data derived from water samples taken at several sites along the river, I conducted PCAs via R Studio to determine any significant relationships between the individual contaminants. Listed as a co-author in the manuscript titled "Anthropogenic influences on an urban river: differences in cations and nutrients along an urban/suburban transect." https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4441/14/9/1330 Show less
