I project manage the application process for Qualified Persons (QP) at the Royal Society of Chemistry. This involves supporting the candidates through the process and managing the assessment alongside the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Royal Society of Biology. To the candidates it, hopefully, looks like a swan elegantly gliding along, but with me being the feet paddling underneath, ensuring everything progresses as it should!I also project manage the Mastership of Chemical Analysis qualification which is awarded by the RSC. This is for people wishing to become Public Analysts. It is a three-part exam sat over a number of years. The final part of this role is in working with the Specialists in Land Condition (SiLC) on the Professional and Technical Panel (PTP) as a representative for one of the 11 professional bodies on the panel.I am also still doing the maternity cover for the Professional Standards Specialist role and will continue to support this when the role holder returns. I support companies to accredit their company training to aid their staff in gaining various professional designations These include Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), Registered Scientist (RSci), Chartered Scientist (CSci) and Chartered Chemist (CChem). It can also include supporting staff to gain full membership of the RSC (MRSC).The main exercise is in mapping the training opportunities staff have these companies to the attributes for each designation. Not all designations are suitable for every company, but we offer a tailor made package to every company, so that whatever designations are relevant and however is best for assessment - we can do our best to accommodate this!We can also accredit Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and 4-year PhDs. In a similar way to accrediting companies, we can map the training that PhDs do as part of their research and it means students can finish their PhD and only need one extra year in industry to complete their CChem, instead of 2. I worked in Membership Sales for my first 3 months at the RSC. This involved visiting lots of universities to talk to their students about the benefits of membership of the RSC. I then moved in the Education team, and was only there for one month before moving onto a longer term contract in the team.

I spent an amazing summer teaching dinghy sailing to schoolchildren and families off a pontoon in Greece. There weren't many staff and we worked hard, but being out in the fresh air and sun everday was a great experience!
