For his demonstrated performance, strong team spirit and excellent work ethics, I highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a solid hire. Working as a linux system engineer with 9 years of experience in IoT, software and banking industries in France and in Hong Kong, I have encountered a wide range of software engineers, with varying degrees of experience, profound technical skills and eclectic cultures. Alex Hunsberger is one individual I have worked with who uniquely stands out. During our work together, Alex has shown a continued expertise of the Python + Javascript technical stack, RESTful APIs and numerous data layer schemes. I have appreciated his great can-do attitude and delightful spirit, when confronted to exigent requirements as well as amid taxing troubleshooting sessions. Alex' sense of ownership and communicative passion for experimenting manifested when we projected to set up network orchestration: I was busy working on another topic ; after asking for a few hints, Alex took the initiative to research advanced linux networking, containers and services management, which he applied to deliver the platform and achieve a higher degree of automation. Throughout our work together, Alex' openness and resiliency when engaging with partners have been a catalyzer for the team, helping better meet our stakeholders' interests. I remember Alex' primary role in refining and implementing multiple capacity planning, legacy management and analytics dashboards, which made our lives easier and helped enforce a data-driven decision making doctrine. I am glad I met Alex and could benefit from his composed approach as an inspiration for my own growth.

      • Build out efficient network micro-service architecture in Python/Flask RESTplus/JavaScript • Automate network configuration and data collection from Cisco devices using Python/Ansible • Work closely with global development teams to deliver global solutions • Quickly learn/interconnect different enterprise tools/frameworks to meet Agile business needs Noteworthy projects: ⁍ Automatic switchport configuration for new servers When a new server is ordered using an internal tool, automatically list available racks/switches from a referential source, and automatically write switchport configuration based on VLAN requirements using Ansible/AWX. ⁍ Firewall compliance monitoring Liaise directly with internal audit while also handling technical implementation of an auditing/reporting mechanism for labeling firewall rules with proper case number so that the ongoing necessity of having the rule can be reviewed on a yearly basis. ⁍ Referential discrepancy check Build a web application using ReactJS/Python Flask that can pull device data from multiple sources and compare relevant data across different referential database systems and quickly highlight any inconsistencies. ⁍ Virtual Ansible/Puppet lab Use EVE-NG virtual lab to create a sandbox with virtual Cisco devices and RHEL servers (using qemu) that could be used to test Ansible/Puppet playbooks in a safe way that is isolated from the production networks and devices. ⁍ Switchport as a Service API Use Python Flask/Netmiko to provide a RESTful API interface that can be used to quickly retrieve Layer 2 and Layer 3 information from switches/routers (plus packet/frame metrics) and return it in a JSON format which is easily consumable by other applications and automation tools.
