Student Physical Therapist
-
May 2023 - Jul 2023
I participated in an 8 week clinical experience at Weinberg Campus, working under a licensed Physical Therapist. During this experience I was able to practice many of the skills I have learned in PT school so far such as basic ROM and strength testing, gait assessment and cuing, guarding and other safety measures, assistive device fitting, PROM stretching techniques, documentation, exercise administration, creating interventions, and communicating with patients as well as other staff throughout the facility. I was also exposed to patients of a large age range and a spectrum of different conditions and disease pathologies, such as Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cancer, Dementia, Alzheimer's, amputations, fractures, and Osteoarthritis. I spent time as a research assistant in the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments Lab as a part of a course offered through the University at Buffalo. I spent 9 hours per week in the lab for a span of 15 weeks. Some of my tasks were data collection, vitals assessment, management of data recording software (such as VO2 testing and Biopic machine), and document creation.
