I am the co-founder of 'REDSAIL Music, Words, Art' — a spoken-word jam night in the heart of Grimsby town. We invite all manner of guests to come up and give music or poetry a go, giving them a platform with the opportunity to perform with a backing jazz band. My role in Docks Beers has evolved as the business has grown. Beginning as part-time bar staff in early 2019, my career in Docks has spanned 2 years of rapid development. Over these years I have earnt a licensed premises qualification, become a first aider, a part of the brilliant events staff, had responsibilities running the click and collect service, handling shop sales, and even designing new craft beers; helping to brew two beers myself with the fantastic brewing team. My proudest achievement at Docks Beers was creating my first beer with brewers Lewis and Rory, a hazy 6% cask IPA called ‘Big Dock Energy’, for sale in the taproom. Marketing a product partly designed by me was incredibly rewarding. The beer was popular with patrons and every positive comment by customers was an enriching part of my day. Writing and designing products that resonate with people is what makes me happy, and I seek to do more to fulfil this desire in an increasingly professional capacity. Show less

As we entered the second devastating wave of COVID-19 I decided to undertake responsibilities at a local secondary school; intending to build on my previous experience as a tutor at Newcastle University. I worked at Tollbar Academy as SEN Teaching Support Staff from September 2020 to March 2021, working to help close the attainment gap between lower ability and higher ability pupils during the COVID-19 fallout. This was a challenging but rewarding experience. I had considerable responsibility within this role, having to tutor and supervise the children of key workers throughout the various UK lockdowns. These lockdowns meant that I had to work on my own, supervising and helping classes of up to 14 children, as teachers worked from home broadcasting online tuition. Managing behaviour, teaching, and social distancing measures for students was a demanding task, with a great deal of responsibility which I rose to. I took this challenge in my stride and I am proud of the help I brought to the wider community during the pandemic. I have been consistently regarded with high appraisal from my colleagues and I would be happy to provide relevant references if required. Show less
