As a Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention, I have had the opportunity to work on two major studies focused on improving tobacco cessation efforts. In the University of Wisconsin Exhale Study (2017-2019), I was responsible for managing 425 active participants in a state-wide study funded by a $3.7M federal grant. Through my efforts, I was able to increase study participation by 25% during the summer of 2017. In addition, I conducted blood pressure, carbon monoxide, and pulmonary lung function tests with study participants and communicated with them regularly through in-person, phone, and email interactions. In the Improving Quitline Support (IQS) Study (2018-2020), I played a key role in the day-to-day operations of the $3M study, funded by the National Cancer Institute. I communicated and organized schedules for 1,408 Medicaid eligible smokers enrolled in the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line, and provided resources and guidance to low socioeconomic disparity populations using tobacco. Through these experiences, I have developed strong skills in research coordination, communication, and organization, and I am passionate about making a positive impact in the field of tobacco research.
