Also I applied ITIL and CSI principles to proactively identify improvements to processes and systems. Other responsibilities included day to day maintenance of the application environment, supporting business units in supporting customers, supporting BAU releases and support of Business Continuity events. I also spent time as the on-call engineer, being the point of escalation for emergencies and fixes. This has given me the experience of working under pressure and using my knowledge and skills to coordinate and liaise with teams across the globe to resolve any issues. This role has given me the opportunity to expand my technical knowledge in Linux and Java in an enterprise environment and I would very much like to keep developing my technical skills in these areas. Within this, I would liaise with all areas of the business such as customer managers and upper management to present and discuss the changes that I developed. I also needed to work closely with our technical departments such as the software development to raise software defects and to discuss potential adverse effects that might affect a customer and plan how to mitigate those issues. I was involved in extra project work around my usual responsibilities which included the migration of servers and databases that were end of life and out of support. Also I worked in a small team that was responsible for moving the ruleset used for the processing of ATM events from an Excel based solution to a Perl based system. Show less
