During a three-week pilot project following a group of scientists and support personnel, conducting a number of live connections along the way, down to the bottom of the earth was a once in a lifetime experience. This time, it wasn’t just for those onboard the ship or at the research base. As these people ventured down, they linked up with classrooms and museums—like the Smithsonian—to broaden the reach of the work being done, share the excitement of field work in science, and bring to view the rapidly changing Western Antarctic Peninsula.Funded by the National Science Foundation the project pulled off a couple firsts, like doing two-way interactive programs from a ship transiting through the drake passage on the way to the U.S owned, Palmer Research Station. Vision Mixer/Drone Pilot

Aboard the research vessel Atlantis, out of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, I worked with a local director and camera operator from the BBC to photograph, edit, and film the work of a deep sea submersible aboard the vessel for BBC One's Blue Planet Live. I was also in charge of vision mixing our live segments during the program.
