Steve was a professional rugby league player who played for St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield Wildcats and also represented his county Lancashire and had international caps for Ireland and GB.In 2006 Steve was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a rare abdominal cancer and set out to raise funds for The Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. Steve had a pioneering multi visceral transplant in 2013 at the Oxford Intestinal Transplant Unit. Sadly, as a result of complications Steve passed away in November 2013 but his charity continues to raise funds in his memory for The Christie and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.In 2016 saw the Million Pound milestone of donations to its nominated charities achieved.The SPF has donated over £1.7 million to it's causes since it's inception.
