Synthetization of Prussian Blue Analogue (PBA) crystals. Possible applications of PBAs include military, medical, and sustainability/energy storage industries. Through scientific literature review, I am searching for methods to cheaply and quickly create similar micro magnets. Side project: pressed yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) superconducting pellet, wet-soldered platinum microwires onto said pellet, and graphed the pellet’s characteristics in Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) machine (by Quantum Design Inc.). Worked independently in condensed matter physics lab on materials science type assignment: synthesizing Prussian Blue analogue (PBA) crystals. Very structured program: regular updates to advisors, presentations to other students, and final poster presentation to community. Honed skills in complex crystal synthesis, Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) usage, and advanced physics/chemistry lab skills. Subsequent measuring proved to be successful in characterizing crystal’s photo-induced magnetism (done at Quantum Design Inc.). Show less
