  Alex is a Romanian star decathlete with extensive experience in training celebrities and managing health club facilities. He went on to own various gyms in the Hamptons, with great success. He is the innovator of the successful SPEEDFIT routine, a patented proving system "Astilean Fitness Score Matrix". He is also currently working on a new patented non-motorized treadmill and a suspension system for treadmills. This system will simulate weightlessness during a workout for overweight consumers who otherwise might not participate in the program. These two innovations will revolutionize the way people train.   In 1994, as Alex's reputation as a trainer grew still more, he became manager of another Radu gym in Easthampton, New York. Two years later, Alex seized an opportunity to open his own training facility in East Hampton, to which he added a facility in Bridgehampton in 1998. And in 1999, he began instituting a new fitness program, one that he had been thinking about for years, born of his experience as a track and field athlete in Romania. Concentrating his efforts, he closed the East Hampton facility and devoted himself to developing a new fitness routine based on speed running. In fact, he'd practiced this routine, honed and adjusted it for fifteen years, from the beginning of his work as a fitness trainer. It was the reason for his success.   Astilean's past athletic reputation attracted the attention of another Romanian, the fitness trainer Radu, who hired Alex in 1991 as a trainer for his gym on West 57th Street, Radu's Physical Culture. Astilean's knowledge of training and sports caused his reputation as a trainer to spread quickly. Within short order, he became personal trainer to JFK, Jr., Darryl Hannah, Rachel Roberts (of "Simone" fame), Bianca Jagger, Cindy Crawford, Charlie Rose, Vanessa Williams, Storm Field, Angie Everhart, Samuel Wachsal, Marla Maples, Janet Jackson and Matthew Broderick.
