The MLAU is a 185km and 500km ultra marathon through the arctic wilderness of remote Sweden. My role of medic meant I was able to go to various check points along each race and provide any medical cover and be on call for emergencies. This year my check points varied between rural cabins in the middle of nowhere with no everyday luxuries (water, electricity, central heating ect) during some very challenging weather, and ‘haunted’ school houses in small communities. Working as apart of the medical team for the 500km ultra marathon in the Swedish arctic wilderness. Medics would be positioned at various different check points (some very remote) and would make sure the racers were medically safe to continue and provided any emergency/life saving interventions necessary.
