Preclinically development of novel therapeutic strategies for TNBC based on the inhibition of survivin expression/functions.Objective of the study will be the evaluation of the antitumor effect exerted by the reconstitution of two microRNAs found to be involved in the regulation of survivin expression and downregulated in breast cancer in TNBC cell models and their ability to improve the response to chemo-therapeutic agents and ionizing radiation. Involved in a project addressing the role of Ret oncoproteins in the regulation of survival/death pathways in tumor cells. Specifically, the objective of my studies is the elucidation of the molecular determinants involved in apoptosis and autophagy induction by Ret inhibitors currently under clinical investigation in thyroid cancer. Focusing, in particular, the role of the dependence receptor function of the Ret receptor, and its relationship with the extrinsic apoptosis pathway.Currently involved in the identification of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of human triple-negative breast cancer cells. Specifically, I recently collaborated to a project aimed at assessing the capability of YM155 –a selective survivin suppressant- to enhance TRAIL-induced apoptosis in TNBC cells.
