TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx brings the spirit of TED to local communities around the globe through TEDx events. These events are organized by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and to share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities. TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks, and are organized independently under a free license granted by TED. These events are not controlled by TED, but event organizers agree to abide by our format, and are offered guidelines for curation, speaker coaching, event organizing and more. They learn from us and from each other. More than 3000 events are now held annually.

Staff of Fracturing Fluid Design Competition

Fracture Fluid Design Competition is a competition in which students are challenged to create fracture fluid systems in laboratory scale by applying a series of chemical additives to enhance the productivity of a well according to the case. Participants are required to analyze the case given and present their solution in the form of paper. Then, participants must create a fracture fluid to correspond to the submitted paper and present both their paper and the fracture fluid to the judges.

Petroleum Integrated Days (Petrolida) is an international-scaled competition held by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Student Chapter (SPE ITS SC). This event is held annually to build conductive relations between all SPE student chapters across the Asia Pacific and to provide media for students to apply their creativity concerning today's energy issue through a series of competition preferences. The Ambassador Lecturer Program (ALP) is an initiative run by the Young Member Engagement Committee to help educate, inform, and develop the skills of the next generation of oil and gas professionals. Young Professionals (YPs) visit universities and secondary schools in their region to help them gain knowledge to prepare for their early careers. This program aims to provide a platform for students to develop their soft skills regarding current in demand skills and to help disseminate information about the E&P industry, answer students’ questions, and share their professional experiences.

According to a survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers on behalf of the Career Advisory Board, 56% of University Career Centers say students lack interest in formal career preparation and professional development, preventing them from successfully gaining employment. SPE ITS SC has several core values including Professional Competence, where SPE ITS SC provides a platform to prepare skills needed in career life. To deliver these values of SPE ITS SC, we develop a 2-days boot camp consisting of a CV Workshop, a Leaderless Group Discussion, and a Mock Interview.

Soft Skills X Science Course Division SPE ITS SC is here to support student's interest in companies involved in the oil and gas industry at the talkshow-based event. Participants will be given the opportunity to learn more basic knowledge about Oil & Gas including from upstream, midstream, and downstream segments, and also the current and future conditions of the Oil & Gas Industry. Then the event will be followed by a career talk with the goal that participants can gain more knowledge about the recruitment process and what skills are needed to be part of the world’s leading service companies. Moreover, participants will receive a thorough introduction to each profession as it is practiced in the workplace, with the aim of introducing students to new learning opportunities through examples. Furthermore, participants will also have the chance to ask a Schlumberger representative who is an expert in their field and will develop a deeper understanding of the company operations as a result in addition to being ideally capable of serving as the future employee.
