In November 2020, I was invited by Professor Anthony Chase to supervise the Occidental’s Spring 2021 Task Force focused on truth-telling, accountability, racial justice, and community healing for the City of Los Angeles. In this role, I helped guide the Task Force's research, analysis, and interviews to draft a plan of action to address deeply-rooted issues of racism and trauma through transformative justice as requested by the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office and the Chief Equity Office. I designed and taught the course syllabus, incorporating city officials’ feedback and my experiences with restorative justice, conflict resolution, and mediation. Together with faculty, I shared responsibility fo supervising 16 students and their research avenues: Recognition, Responsibility, and Repair, leading to the development of a 70+-page final report and recommendations for the City of L.A.During Summer 2021, I represented the team in a public presentation to the Cultural Heritage Commission of the City of Los Angeles and the Deputy Mayor for Economic Opportunity.
