It is headquartered in Vancouver and operates 21 helicopters out of bases in Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Lillooet, Sechelt and Alberta. Services include hydro/utility work, firefighting, filming, emergency services, construction, mining, and tourism. Blackcomb Aviation is co-owned by John Morris and by the McLean family of the Vancouver-based McLean Group who own and operate Vancouver Film Studios. During my tenure at Blackcomb Aviation I have reported into the Owner and Chairman, the VP Finance of McLean Group of Companies and more recently the VP of Finance of Blackcomb Aviation. My responsibilities include: •Direct all month end closing activities; journal entry review, P&L consolidation, balance sheet account reconciliations; revenue, and expense variance analysis versus budget and prior year. •Develop and present all internal and external progress reporting including; month/quarter/year-end financial statements, actual versus budget reports, forecast reports, KPI and covenant compliance. •Develop and present key strategic reports to Sr. Management, the Board of Directors and other critical stakeholders including; Board of Directors’ report, and MD&A. •Plan, develop and implement working capital and forecasting solutions to address asset acquisition opportunities and day-to-day cash management requirements. •Spearhead the yearly budgeting process and deliver timely, accurate annual budgets. •Oversee a team of four accounting clerks. •Conduct merger/acquisition, and new business analysis, including all aspects of due diligence and valuation models of several potential acquisitions. •Accountable for the planning and preparation for the year end audits, and responsible for extensive liaison with the external auditors. •Liaise with bank, major suppliers, major customers and corporate lawyers.
