Bio
Kyle Hamlin, M.A.
Alece is a strong student affairs professional with a lot of great ideas to help out the department and area that she works in. I had the benefit of working for her as a Community Advisor and she provided me with the support and strength I needed at that time in my life. She was well-engaged through the entire community by walking the community, conversing with the residents, and was available in her office or in the community when needed. Alece was also very helpful for me when it came to my professional sense. She helped me work on my leadership skills, reflect on my experiences, and helped me with graduate school searches and applications. Her experience directly related to what I was going through and it helped me gain a better sense of myself, and I am forever grateful for that.

I can think of no trait more valuable in higher education than innate concern for student success. Alece has this in spades. Whether it is on a micro-level, coaching students to prepare for a future opportunity, or on a macro-level, creating institutional change for the betterment of all, Alece cares deeply about all students.

I directly support 600+ International Business and Marketing students and faculty to facilitate career development within the Huntsman School of Business. This involves counseling and advising students on career exploration, internship opportunities, and job search strategies. In this role, I advise students on refining professional documents (i.e. resume, CV, cover letter), interview skills, job/internship search strategies, networking, and maintaining a professional social media presence. Part of my role includes researching, developing, and implementing a gamified, first year experience (FYE) Canvas course for incoming Huntsman students as an onboarding tool and establishing a career-focused approach to campus engagement. In addition to 1:1 counseling appointments, responsibilities include presenting workshops on topics of career exploration, professional preparedness, and professional development as well as maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor markets and job search trends. I have also served on several committees for initiatives including USU Experiential Learning, HSB Orientation, Your Story Matters, and FJMCSS staff hiring. Show less

Artist & Owner

Jan 2018 - Present
I am thrilled to embark on the adventure of sharing my distinct perspective of the world through my art! Long ago, I discovered the joy of painting and since then, I've been captivated by the process of bringing my imagination to life on canvas, through prints, and most recently in the organizational space. There's an endless array of breathtaking landscapes waiting to be depicted. As an artist, my work revolves around celebrating the mesmerizing beauty of our planet through nature-inspired compositions. Currently, I find great inspiration in the majestic Utah mountains and the awe-inspiring presence of whales.--perhaps it's my Taurus roots that draw me to these subjects. Regardless, I am driven to uncover the awe-inspiring potential that lies within our surroundings. Show less

Assistant Director of Student Life
-
Aug 2018 - Jun 2020
Overseeing the programmatic and daily operations of this office, I was the coordinator for all things student activities at KCC. My responsibilities included developing departmental strategic goals; hiring, training, and supervising 4 student workers to facilitate campus events; fostering the development and engagement of registered student organizations; advising the Associated Students of Klamath Community College (ASKCC); and managing the operation and expansion of the KCC food pantry. In my two-year tenure in the role, the office was able to coordinate countless campus-wide events on topics of leadership, service, wellness, and diversity. More than anything, I am proud to have supported KCC students as they emerged as advocates for themselves and other students. A prime example of this is the proposal and development of the KCC Wellness Center which was spearheaded by the student government to create a free space for physical and mental wellness. I also had the unique opportunity to work with the student government, First Year Experience Coordinator, and KCC facilities to design and move the Office of Student Life into an intentional and function office space for all students.
