Bio
Sheena McTernan-Ramos
I had the privilege of getting to know Alberto through Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). Alberto is charismatic, but genuine with an exceptional skill set for developing relationships and building trust within the first few minutes of a conversation, which is a key characteristic trait to be successful in building and strengthening relationships. Alberto is able to easily develop connections between people and other firms to cultivate business opportunities. He is quick on his feet and able to pull from his depth of experience and knowledge to create a tangible benefit to any firm he supports or collaborates with. Not only does Alberto’s peer recognize his talent, but so did the New Mexico SMPS Chapter. As soon as Alberto was introduced into the Chapter and established a relationship throughout the SMPS community, the local Chapter jumped at the opportunity to have Alberto support them as its president. The members all agreed that Alberto brought fresh, innovative ideas that would greatly benefit the growth and momentum of the Chapter and those involved. Alberto is and will be an asset to any organization that he is a part of.

Program Manager - UNM Entrepreneurial Challenge Program
-
Sep 2014 - Jul 2020
I lead the UNM Entrepreneurial Challenge Program, a statewide startup planning program operated out of the Dean's Office at the Anderson School of Management. We prepare aspiring entrepreneurs in a year-round effort to develop scalable collegiate startup ventures from UNM, NMSU, and CNM into new commercial and technology-based startup ventures. Value is added to this process thru the support and expertise from academic, business, laboratory, and government stakeholders in New Mexico. Over the past year, I have transformed the program from a business plan competition to a startup development program, and am developing a Startup Support Fund for incremental seed funding for our most prepared startup ventures. My purpose is achieving our vision to generate economic development through home-grown startup ventures in our state. My mission is developing the next generation of business owners in New Mexico. My passion is developing leaders that build ladders, not just climb them. Raised in Anchorage, Alaska and an alumnus of the University of New Mexico, I am currently pursuing my Master's in Public Administration at UNM with a focus on Transformational Leadership. At the end of the day, I leave work at work, so I can enjoy my family, trail running with my dogs, mountain ultramarathons, jiu jitsu, and camping in the mountains.
